We celebrated Erin's 6th birthday this past weekend with a polar bear party per her request. We debated on whether or not to limit the guest list to just children from church, but in the end we agreed to inviting the kids in her class too. WHOA! As the RSVP's came flooding in just days before her birthday, I started to panic. I think we ended up with 18 kids, about 20 adults, and 3 infants.

I have to admit that I didn't enjoy making the cupcakes...neither did Mike. I worked on the penguins on Friday afternoon and Mike helped with the whales later that night. I no longer have the desire to become a cake decorator some day:) The important thing is that Erin LOVED them and that was all that mattered to us!

Such an easy, fun treat! I used food coloring to tint bakers almond bark blue, dipped marshmallows in it, sprinkled with candy sprinkles, and poked the stick into the bottom of a cardboard box to let them set.

We played some really cute games with the kids. We set out a jar filled with 'polar bear food' (i.e. swedish fish) and each kid guessed how many were in the jar. The kid with the closest guess (111 fish), got to take the jar home. We set out two bowls filled with a set number of cotton balls on one end and 'igloos' with holes on the top of them at another end. We divided the kids into teams and had them each take a straw and try to suck the cotton ball to it and carry it over to the igloo to drop it in. Not so easy, but a lot of fun! We also had a play doh polar bear contest to see who could make the best polar bear in five minutes. In the end, it was just too hard to pick because they were all great:)
